Katherine Pentecost teaches down to earth, functional Pilates to promote more freedom of movement. Find Katherine teaching group classes, 1:1 sessions, workshops, running retreats and tutoring on the Body Control Pilates Teacher Training team. She's been working with matwork and reformer/studio Pilates since 2009. More recently she's completed her Slings Foundation Education with art of motion, learning about myofascial training techniques which are now being blended into her Pilates teaching.
I have been working with Katherine for some seven years, first in a small group, then one-to-one weekly. Her instruction is progressive, clear, observant, firm but empathetic - and always encouraging. The time just flies past. I’m habitually surprised when our time’s up, but looking forward to the next session.
I was lucky enough to meet Katherine 2 1/2 years ago. She was originally recommended to me by my former Pilates teacher, who had moved away from London. I have been doing pilates with Katherine ever since. She is fabulous!!! A great teacher, super warm personality, very understanding and flexible. She tailors each session expertly to match my energy and wellness that day (I have arthritis so my abilities can vary greatly). Katherine knows just how to encourage and push me to reach new levels of strength and flexibility, all whilst making me laugh. In a one-to-one Pilates session, Katherine gives you her absolute attention and very gently guides you through every single step of every single exercise so that you are never in doubt of how you are moving your body. With her expert eye and talented touch, she very closely monitors how your spine is aligned and how the muscles are interacting with each other, which means that you really receive optimum benefit from all exercises. The real icing on the cake is Katherine’s personality: it is so calming and soothing that, without fail, you finish your session feeling completely grounded and together mentally, as well as physically.
I have been fortunate to work with Katherine one-on-one for some time and I can’t recommend her highly enough. I would encourage anyone interested in Pilates at any level to take one of her classes or workshops. She is an incredibly smart, patient, and dynamic teacher who manages to come up with new ways to challenge me and keep me motivated. She is also a fun, kind, and good natured person sincerely interested in helping you feel, move, sit, walk and breathe better.
